DOUBLE COURT HOUSE

The Double Court House aims to create civilised life in a densely built-up area where outlook on all sides is seriously hemmed in. The site is narrow but extremely long with neighbours built boundary to boundary on both sides. This is a house that has to look inside to find its "out" look.

Otherwise useless backyard space is folded back into the house where it is most needed. This "relocated" yard brings light, air and sky deep into the house and allows every indoor room to open onto an outdoor room. Depending on the season, residents might throw open the doors and live in a semi-outdoor pavilion or retreat to cosy spaces between glazed garden courtyards.
